No education, no hope

Only the educated are free.
       - Epictetus

I found this quote to be interesting and it involves education. After reading this quote, I researched Epictetus to understand where he was coming from. So a little of his background is that he was a Roman slave and a philosopher. I really found this quote interesting because it's true and it especially applies to 3rd world countries. Without an education, a person has no hope. For example, In Cambodia, if one does not get an education, they will be a "slave" to the government. they have no hope. the same goes for the U.S., just possibly less extreme. Here in the U.S., without an education one can still usually get a job and survive but they are still trapped by limitations. It just shows how important education actually is! Can u imagine living with no hope?

  1. Your post reminds me of a George Orwell quote that goes something like "If you can't write, you can't think. If you can't think, someone else will think for you."
